Evening of Book Recommendations, National Poetry Month, and more.

Kirland’s only new and gently used bookstore is starting to see more activity.  Thanks for letting your friends, neighbors and acquaintances know about us.  We had a difficult January and like all new businesses there are challenges every week.

This Sunday, April 2nd you can be part of the Tik Tik Tik Type-In event.  More than a dozen classic manual typewriters will be set up in the store.  Come on in and type something the old fashioned way2 to 4 p.m.  Tik Tik Tik Type-in Facebook Event Page. 

Every Wednesday at 11 a.m. we have StoryTime at BookTree for pre-schoolers.  Bring the kids!  StoryTime Wednesday April 5th!

Another exciting upcoming event (well, we hope you’ll think of it as exciting) is BookTree’s first Evening of Recommendations.  Mary and Chris will be talking about books they believe are worth reading.  Most would make excellent books for book clubs too!  This happens on Tuesday April 18th at 7 p.m.  Evening of Book Recommendations Event! 

April is National Poetry Month!  Did you know BookTree co-owner Chris has a blog that features daily writing prompts every day of April?  The blog is called PoetryIsEverything and for about 10 years Chris has participate in NaPoWriMo, encouraging and inspiring people to write a poem a day during April. Mark your calendars for a special and fun 3rd Saturday Workshop-Reading and Open Mic on April 15th.  Renowned poet Robert Lashley will lead a workshop from 4:30 to 6 p.m.   And then (6:15 to 8 p.m.) he’ll be doing an informal Q and A and reading from his latest book, Up South.  And we have a special open mic too3rd .  It will be a ‘good Saturday’ indeed!  Saturday Free Workshop/Reading Event

BookTree will be close on Easter Sunday, April 16th.

On Saturday April 22nd at 4 p.m. we have award winning author-poet-publisher Paul Hunter for a special Q&A and reading.  Paul’s brand new book Clownery: In Lieu of a Life Spent in Harness   has just been published.  Don’t miss it!  Paul Hunter at BookTree  

On Tuesday evening April 25th at 7 p.m.  BookTree’s Reading Circle Book Club will be meeting to discuss the Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Sympathizer.  Get a copy, read it and join us for a interesting, lively discussion about the book.   Reading Circle Book Club (The Sympathizer).

And on April 29th we are joining 19 other Western Washington Independent Bookstores to celebrate National Independent Bookstore Day.  You’ll get a chance to win gift certificates, and much more.  We will have several authors in the store throughout the day and some fun activities too!  Stay Tuned for more news about this!
