First a big giant grateful THANK YOU to all of BookTree’s regular and irregular customers who make it possible (with your patronage and support) for BookTree to continue to be Kirkland’s only new and gently-used locally owned and operated independent bookstore. BookTree will be celebrating 10 years in November. Only possible because enough of YOU have walked through the doors at 609 Market Street.
On September 5th the first Saturday PIE* reading will be a celebration of the Western Washington Poets Network . Org and the 3 anthologies created by Griffith H. Williams as limited-edition letterpress collections printed on a century-old Chandler & Price 10x15 letterpress (built in 1911). We will gather at 4:24 pm and begin our announcements and readings at 5pm with a limited open mic. (No workshop this month) It’s free. All invited! (*PIE stands for Poetry Is Everything).
Copies of the just published brand new poetry collection- STIR by BookTree owner, Christopher J. Jarmick have arrived! Stop in and request Chris to read a poem or two, perhaps purchase a signed copy. BookTree’s Reading Circle Book Club is open to all and meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm (September’s book is Cannery Row by John Steinbeck - October’s book is Whistler by Ann Patchett). Read the book (available at BookTree) and join us in a discussion! We have fun!
The last weekend in September on Friday September 25th and September 26 BookTree will have two events that are part of Kirkland’s Umbrella Fringe Festival (created by the Kirkland Art Center).
