FEBRUARY AT BOOKTREE

February is off to a great start at Kirkland's only new and used independent bookstore. Several neighborhood people 'discovered' our bookshop for the first time and former Park Place customers are returning.  We've also added a few more book clubs to our growing list.  Thanks for continuing to spread the word about BookTree – Kirkland’s only new and used independent bookstore!

Seattle Magazine has just done a nice write-up on us!  (Thank you Sarah Murphy) Seattle Magazine Link.

We re-arranged the store several weeks ago and have some local artists' work up on our walls too.  Visit and take a look soon!

Many events happening in the next few weeks.

On Thursday February 9th around 2 p.m., we’ll be hosting author Charles Wolfe right after he gives a talk at the Kirkland City Hall.   You can read all about that right here: Winter walk with Wolfe.

Our weekly StoryTime continues every Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m.  It’s perfect for pre-schoolers and their adult companions.  StoryTime Event Page

On February 18th our 3rd Saturday Free Workshop, Reading and Open Mic series continues.  Author/Poet/Translator Carolyne Wright will be leading a fascinating workshop from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Workshop Details:  My Worst Job and Other True (or False) Confessions

What was your worst job interview, or job, or date, or marriage?  The most exquisitely embarrassing moment, the time you wished the earth would open and swallow you?  Tell of that hellhole you crawled out of to laugh another day, and in the confessions (real or imagined) you write in this workshop.  We will read and discuss poems and short prose pieces about work and other human relational spaces, and write our responses. This workshop is open to writers of all ages and levels of experience.

And for our Reading and Open Mic  Carolyne Wright and Elizabeth Myrh will be reading some poetry during the Reading/Open Mic 6:15 to 8:00 p.m.  Don’t miss it.

On February 19th -  we have the historian and author of Looking for Betty McDonald (Egg and I), Paula Becker in our store for a Q and A and to sign books at 2 p.m.  Paula Becker Facebook Event Page

On February 26th we have a very special 2 author event ---  Adrienne Ross Scanlan, author of the narrative non-fiction: Turning Homeward and children’s author Clare Hodgson Meeker (Rhino Rescue!). Read all about it here: Two Author Event!

And as if that wasn’t enough…  On the 4th Tuesday of the Month, February 28th at 7 p.m. be a part of BookTree’s Reading Circle book club.  Our first meeting in January was a big success and very well attended.  We discussed The Last Bookaneer by Matthew Pearl.   The next book we’ll be reading and talking about is the Man-Booker Prize winning novel, The Sellout by Paul Beatty.  Get your copy at BookTree and plan on joining us to talk about it, on the 28th.   Reading Circle Event Page Here

Looking ahead... we have a special Robert Dugoni related event on Saturday, March 4th... and three local authors you will want to know more about will be here on Sunday March 5th. . . .   stay....tuned.

Thanks for helping us become YOUR full-service community bookstore!
